Two Arrests Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
